How do I find out my waitlist status? 
Visit the Boston Housing Authority website (
bostonhousing.org): Applicants can check their waitlist application status by calling 617-988-4200 or to submit online, visit the BHA website 'Apply for Housing' section for more information.  You need to have your client control number ready. 


Where can I find legal assistance for my housing issue (ex: landlord/tenant disputes and evictions)?
Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) provides legal assistance and referrals to low income eligible clients dealing with landlord/tenant disputes and evictions. Contact them at 617-371-1270 or visit their site at
gbls.org. Their office is located at 197 Friend Street Boston, Ma 02114.

The
Massachusetts Law Reform Institute may also be of assistance. The Institute provides information and referrals regarding pro-bono lawyers for low-income tenants. Contact them at 617-357-0700. Their office is located at 99 Chauncey Street Boston, Ma 02111. 

The
Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association assists low income, elderly, disabled residents with civil legal matters. 

For complaints about unfair Realtor practices contact the
Attorney General's Office. The office is located at One Ashburton Place, Boston, Ma 02108. Contact them at 617-727-2200.  


I suspect my home has State Sanitary code violations. How do I get help with this?
If your home needs to be inspected because of suspected violations contact the Inspectional Services Department (ISD). They are located at 1010 Mass. Ave. Boston, Ma 02118. Contact them at 617-565-5126.



Where can I find fuel assistance support?
ABCD, Inc. located at 178 Tremont Street, Boston, Ma 02111, has a fuel assistance program that provides fuel subsidy payments for eligible low income residents. Contact them at 617-357-6000.

What are the steps to transfer my rental assistance voucher to Boston?
In order to transfer your rental assistance voucher to Boston you must ask the housing authority that administers your voucher to fax or mail a copy of your voucher and portability package to:

The portability package should include copies of social security cards and birth certificates for all family members as well as the Portability form and the Family Report Form. You will also need to include updated income information and evidence of eligible immigration status.
